By Small and Simple (and Sacred) Things

This Small Business Saturday, I’ve been reflecting on a passage of scripture that has guided my life and my work:
“By small and simple things are great things brought to pass.”
It is true in faith, in family, and in business. The small and sacred things are what allow a company to take shape, take flight, and achieve life-changing results for the team and the community it serves.
Recently, I sat in an MTN OPS executive meeting where budgets were being discussed. It was one of those meetings where numbers and strategy take center stage, but as I listened and watched the wise stewardship of our incredible executive team, I could not help but get a bit sweaty eyed. My mind raced back to the early days of my entrepreneurial journey when I was alone in a small office, taking customer service calls, designing labels, shipping boxes, marketing on Facebook, working with manufacturers, taking payments, and watching a bank account grow so slowly that I often wondered if we would ever make it.
I never imagined the day would come when we would employ such talented people. These individuals not only care about the mission but also watch every dollar to ensure it fulfills our purpose of improving lives. As my mind flashed back to those humble beginnings, I was filled with gratitude for the small but sacred funds that once started this business and how, even today, they are treated with that same sacred care.
Every customer who supports MTN OPS has trusted us with something meaningful, the fruits of their hard work. We do not take that lightly. It is sacred to us. Each order is more than a transaction. It is a sign of trust and a shared belief that we can make a difference together.
I will never forget kneeling in my office each morning in those early days, praying to be guided to individuals who could benefit from what was being built. When the first team member joined the journey, my friend and brother, Nick Hanks, we knelt together each morning, asking for God’s guidance and direction. Simple, sacred, and necessary prayers that continue to this day for the business, our team, and most importantly for the customers who keep this mission alive.
Through your continued support, this small business has been blessed with the sacred opportunity to feed God’s children, now by the millions, through Operation Conquer Hunger. A true witness that by small, simple, and sacred things, great things are brought to pass.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in us, for supporting this mission, and for continuing to conquer more with us.
With gratitude,
