I Am The Resurrection I Am The Resurrection

I Am The Resurrection

Why do we celebrate Easter?

For many, it’s a holiday. A gathering. A tradition.

But at its core, Easter answers one of the deepest questions of the human soul:

What happens after we die?

Studies have shown that a large majority of people carry a fear of death or uncertainty about what comes next. It’s not always spoken, but it’s there…in quiet moments, in loss, in reflection.

Because death feels final. But Easter declares something bold:

Death is not the end.

A WEEK OF HOPE

Holy Week is a week of hope. Hope that death has been overcome. Hope that it has been conquered.

Because in this life, we don’t just face one death. We face two.

  • Physical death – the separation of body and spirit

  • Spiritual death – separation from God

And while both are real…both are also overcome through Jesus Christ.

HE TOOK OUR PLACE

I recently watched a film depicting the moment when Pilate stood before the crowd.

He said, “I find no fault in this man.” (John 18:38)

Then, following custom, he offered to release a prisoner.

The crowd shouted:

“Not this man, but Barabbas.” (John 18:40)

Barabbas…a known criminal.

And in that moment, something profound happened. Jesus was sentenced and Barabbas was released. One who was perfectly innocent took the place of the guilty who walked free.

That moment wasn’t just about Barabbas. It was about me. It was about you. It was personal.

Isaiah taught:

“The chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)

Even the vilest sinner…

Even the most broken…

Even those who feel furthest away…

There is hope.

Because He already paid the price. That is how we overcome spiritual death. Through faith in Him. Through repentance. Through accepting what He has already done. The grace which so fully He offers us.

THE GIFT GIVEN TO ALL

There is another gift. A universal one. Not based on worthiness. Not based on performance. The gift of the Resurrection.

Because of Jesus Christ: Every single person who has ever lived will live again. Body and spirit reunited. Perfect. Whole. Restored.

HE IS RISEN

Think about the people you love.

A parent. A grandparent. A friend. A child.

How many of us know someone who has passed on?

Easter is the answer to the ache we feel in those moments.

Because of Him: Separation is temporary. We will see them again. We will embrace again. We will live again.

THE DECLARATION

Jesus didn’t say I will be the resurrection.

He said:

“I am the resurrection, and the life.” (John 11:25)

Not someday. Now.

Because He lives…We conquer.

Because He rose…We rise.

He Is Risen.

As a disciple of Jesus Christ, I add my witness to the truths taught by and about Him.

He is the way of the conqueror.

He is my Savior, my Redeemer, and my friend.

I know that He lives.
